First Five for Friday

I am thrilled to be participating in my first Five for Friday linky!

Hopefully, now that I am getting started with the Five for Friday, I will pay more attention to the "post worthy" moments in my week. To get the ball rolling (drumroll please!)...

This was my pile of grading. I know, we all have it, so this picture is no surprise. But, I know there are a few people out there who aren't teachers who read my blog (HI MOM!). It may come as a surprise to the non-teachers how much grading is actually done (well... "done") by teachers in the elementary grades. If the stack isn't anxiety inducing enough, I have provided a second photo of the papers sorted by assessment type (math test, nonfiction writing, spelling test, running records, etc... etc... etc...). So glad that's over!

It has been so blasted cold here! I mean to say that it has been so cold that I broke my door handle. I know, you're going to tell me, "CaseyJane, it's all of that working out you've been doing at the rock gym!" I agree, I am pretty ripped (hehe, gentle fib there). But the handle broke because of the cold air! Basically, the metal just gave up. Oh, did I forget to mention that this was the handle i.n.s.i.d.e. the garage? Enough of this polar vortex! It was cool for a few days (pun intended), but we need you to kindly depart.

I finally snuck a picture of this on day 3 of the new style. So adorable! I'm thinking about reading Stephanie's Ponytail by Robert Munsch to see if more scholars to follow suit

Generally, I don't care who comes in my room. I'm a good teacher and I'm confident enough to know that my mistakes aren't epic. I'm human. So is the guy/gal in the suit.

I've never been one to care about some big "hot shot" coming in my room. In fact, I never used to even know who my superintendent was. Shame on me and all of that stuff. Honestly, I'd prefer to save the brain-space for kid stuff like the name of every scholar's dog/cat/hamster/siblings...

However, that space of kid-info in my brain has been recently filled with the name and face of the current super.  And what with the culture around teaching and education changing greatly in most states, I still don't exactly care who comes in... but it feels very different now. So Friday this was me:

I am so excited about teaching myself some neat-o stuff. Okay, a bit of a brag there, but it's good for you, too! I am offering up a freebie on my Facebook Page. Just like my page and this buddy class bookmark is yours! I can't wait to get up my next freebie! Keep checking back or hit bloglovin' button at the bottom of this post.
